About

West Bridger Cabin sits in a peaceful valley along West Bridger Creek in the foothills of the Beartooth Mountains at 4,847 feet elevation. This two-room cabin accommodates four people on single beds with mattresses and includes an electric stove and lights, a wood-burning heating stove, table with chairs, cookware, dinnerware, utensils, and cleaning supplies. Outside amenities include a campfire ring, vault toilet, small corral with fenced pasture, and hitching rails for stock. The cabin is accessible year-round, though spring and winter conditions may limit access. Snow conditions can preclude wheeled vehicles for up to the last mile in winter, and a 4-wheel drive vehicle is recommended. The 8-mile Derby Mountain Trail starts at the cabin and circles the east side of Derby Mountain to Arch Rock. Additional trails and roads head west into the Beartooth foothills and Deer Creek valley, providing excellent hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding opportunities. West Bridger Creek offers casual fishing, and the area is popular for big game hunting in season. Guests must bring or treat their own water from the creek. Firewood is provided for the indoor heating stove only; campers must collect or bring wood for outdoor campfires. The area is home to moose, mule deer, elk, and grizzly bear, and food storage orders must be followed. Maximum stay is 5 nights, with a maximum group size of 15 people.
