Meyers Creek Cabin is a fully-equipped rental cabin located within the Meyers Creek Work Center in Custer Gallatin National Forest at an elevation of 5,646 feet. Built in 1906 as the Meyers Creek Ranger Station, the cabin sits in the western end of the Beartooth Mountains, surrounded by cattle pastures and slopes covered in pine, aspen, and sagebrush. The cabin sleeps 6 people and comes with 5 single mattresses, electric refrigerator, cook stove, heat, indoor toilet and shower, and cookware. A campfire ring is available outside. Potable water is available on-site. The area offers excellent recreational opportunities for hikers, mountain bikers, equestrians, and anglers. Horse facilities include 2 corrals, a watering tank, and hitching rails. Trails crisscross the area, including the Meyers Creek and Lodgepole Creek Trails. Nearby creeks offer fishing for rainbow and brown trout. The Stillwater River Trailhead, providing access to the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness, is 16 miles south. The cabin is accessible by vehicle, though 4-wheel drive is recommended during wet weather. The area supports a large bear population, along with bighorn sheep, elk, deer, and various bird species. Guests must bring their own bedding, towels, and dish soap. Pets are not allowed. All trash and food must be packed out when leaving.

Directions

From Absarokee, Montana, take State Highway 78 south to junction with State Highway 419 (3 miles south of Absarokee). Turn right (west) and follow State Highway 419 for 21 miles to Nye. Turn right (north), following the directional sign for 1 mile. Turn left (west) at Y intersection and travel approximately 5 miles. Turn right (north) at Meyers Creek/Picket Pin Road intersection and follow road for 2 miles, turning left into Meyers Creek Work Center. 4-wheel drive recommended during wet weather.
