Meyers Creek Cabin is a historic ranger station that has served the Forest Service since 1906, originally functioning as headquarters for the Stillwater District until the mid-1960s. Located in the western part of the Beartooth Ranger District at 5,646 feet elevation, the cabin offers a unique opportunity to stay in a piece of Forest Service history while enjoying the surrounding wilderness. The cabin sleeps up to 6 people with a combination of single beds and a double bed. Amenities include electricity, heat, an electric refrigerator, cook stove, indoor flush toilet, and shower. Basic cookware, dishes, and utensils are provided, along with cleaning supplies. Guests must bring their own bedding, towels, and dish soap. Potable water is available from an on-site hand pump, though a water filter is recommended. The surrounding Meyers Creek area provides excellent recreation for hikers, mountain bikers, equestrians, and anglers. The Meyers Creek Trail (#27) begins near the cabin, and the Stillwater River Trail (#24) with access to the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness lies 16 miles south. Horse owners can use the designated circle pen corral, watering tank, and hitching rails. Bears frequent the area, so all food must be stored in approved containers or inside the cabin.

Directions

From Beartooth Ranger District office in Red Lodge: Drive north on US Hwy 212 for two miles. Turn left (west) onto MT-78. Drive 30 miles and turn left (west) onto MT-419. Drive 20.4 miles and turn right (north) to stay on MT-419. Drive 0.9 miles and turn left (west) on Limestone Rd. Drive 4.7 miles and bear right onto Meyers Creek Rd/Lodgepole Rd. After 1.9 miles veer left towards Meyers Creek cabin. 4-wheel drive recommended during wet weather.
