About

Warm Springs Recreation Area is a day-use park located at Lake Sonoma in Sonoma County, California, approximately 45 minutes north of Santa Rosa and two hours from San Francisco. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the facility is situated in the beautiful coastal foothills surrounded by world-famous vineyards. The recreation area offers extensive amenities for day visitors, including reservable group picnic shelters, two sand volleyball courts, and large mowed fields suitable for football, baseball, and other field sports. A playground with tire swings, slides, and climbing structures provides entertainment for children. The Woodland Ridge Nature Trail begins at the park and winds up the ridge, rewarding hikers with panoramic views of the Dry Creek Valley and Lake Sonoma. Lake access provides opportunities for swimming, boating, and fishing. Anglers target largemouth and smallmouth bass, catfish, sunfish, and a small native population of rainbow trout. The Milt Brandt Visitor Center is located across the street, where visitors can explore the natural and cultural history of the area. Note that there is no overnight camping available at Warm Springs Recreation Area, though Lake Sonoma offers boat-in primitive camping and developed camping at Liberty Glen Campground elsewhere on the lake.

Directions

Take Highway 101 to Healdsburg and exit on Dry Creek Road. Travel west 11 miles to park boundary. Make a left turn across from the Milt Brandt Visitor Center to reach Warm Springs Recreation Area.
