About
Ward Lake Campground is located on the scenic Ward Lake in the Sierra National Forest, accessed via a remote mountain road near Florence Lake. The campground provides lakeside sites with beautiful views, each equipped with picnic tables, fire rings, and bear boxes for secure food storage. Pine and aspen trees offer natural shade at most campsites. The facility includes vault toilets but does not provide potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. Ward Lake is ideal for non-motorized boating activities such as kayaking, canoeing, and float tubing, as well as fishing and swimming. The campground experiences heavy usage during its operating season due to its scenic location and recreational opportunities. The area is remote, with supplies and groceries available at Florence Lake Store, located three miles past the campground on Kaiser Pass Road. The high-elevation location and mountain setting make mosquito repellent advisable during summer months.
Directions
Take Highway 168 east from Clovis to Shaver Lake. Continue through Shaver Lake to Huntington Lake. At the east end of Huntington Lake, turn right on Kaiser Pass Road at Eastwood Visitor Center. Travel 17 miles to Florence Lake Road. Continue on Florence Lake Road 3.7 miles to the campground.
