About

Mono Creek Campground is a remote, quiet campground located in the High Sierras above Kaiser Pass at an elevation of 7,500 feet. Situated in a peaceful meadow near Mono Hot Springs, the campground offers 24 spacious, private campsites shaded by mature Ponderosa pines within the Sierra National Forest on the western slope of the central Sierra Nevada. Each site includes a picnic table, grill, and bear-proof food storage locker. Accessible vault toilets are provided, but no potable water is available on-site; water can be obtained at the High Sierra Ranger Station. Most recreational activities center around nearby Edison Lake and Mono Hot Springs. Edison Lake serves as an excellent base for exploring the Ansel Adams and John Muir Wilderness Areas. The Mono Creek Trail, accessible from Edison Lake, connects to the network of trails within the John Muir Wilderness, including the Pacific Crest Trail. Visitors enjoy interpretive programs, hiking, trout fishing, boating, and horseback riding. Hot mineral baths are available at Mono Hot Springs. The narrow, winding Kaiser Pass Road has single lanes and blind curves, making it unsuitable for large RVs and motor homes over 25 feet. Pay showers are available approximately 15 minutes away at Vermillion Valley Resort.

Directions

From Clovis, take Highway 168 east through Shaver Lake to Huntington Lake. At the east end of Huntington Lake, turn right on Kaiser Pass Road at Eastwood Visitor Center. Travel 17 miles to Edison Lake Road, turn left toward Edison Lake, and continue 4.5 miles to the campground.
