About

W.P. Franklin North Campground sits on a scenic peninsula almost entirely surrounded by the Caloosahatchee River, part of the 152-mile Okeechobee Waterway spanning from the Atlantic Ocean to the Gulf of Mexico. Operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, this well-kept campground offers 29 RV sites with 50-amp electric and water hookups, plus 8 boat mooring sites where campers can sleep on their vessel while enjoying campground amenities. Fishing is a major draw, with opportunities for both salt and freshwater game fish from the fishing pier or by boat. A boat ramp provides easy waterway access. The campground features two bathhouses with flush toilets and hot showers, a dump station, and a group picnic shelter. Nearby Telegraph Creek offers backcountry canoeing through Florida swamps with excellent wildlife viewing. Downtown Fort Myers is approximately 10 miles away for shopping and supplies, and the historic Thomas Edison and Henry Ford Winter Estates make a worthwhile day trip. Gulf of Mexico beaches are about 45 minutes west.
