About
Victoria Springs State Recreation Area sits in the rolling Sandhills of central Nebraska, about 6 miles east of Anselmo or 7 miles north of Merna. Established in 1925, it ranks among the oldest properties in Nebraska's state park system. The centerpiece is a scenic 5-acre spring-fed lake surrounded by mature cottonwood trees, offering a tranquil setting for camping and outdoor recreation. The campground offers 21 camping pads with 20-, 30-, and 50-amp electrical hookups, plus 60 basic non-pad campsites without electricity. Half of the sites accept advance reservations while the remainder operate first-come, first-served. Modern amenities include restrooms, hot showers, drinking water, and a dump station. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. Beyond camping, visitors can fish the lake for bass, bluegill, channel catfish, and bullhead. Paddleboat rentals provide a relaxing way to explore the water. The park also features horseshoe pits, a basketball hoop, and a playground near the lake. Two modern two-bedroom housekeeping cabins are available for those preferring indoor lodging.
