About
Medicine Creek State Recreation Area is situated on the shores of the 1,768-acre Medicine Creek Reservoir, also known as Harry Strunk Lake, in southwestern Nebraska's Frontier County. The recreation area offers diverse camping options including 64 sites with 50-amp electric hookups, 8 sites with 30-amp service, and 34 basic sites served by vault toilets. Additional primitive camping is available throughout the area. The lake is the centerpiece for recreation, with three boat ramps and docks for water access, along with a non-lifeguarded swimming beach. Anglers will find fish cleaning stations, and the park features a nine-hole disc golf course, archery range, volleyball courts, horseshoes, and playground. Two modern showerhouse/restroom facilities serve campers, with shower buildings typically operational from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Reservations are accepted up to 180 days in advance through the Nebraska Game and Parks reservation system. A Nebraska park entry permit is required in addition to camping fees.
