Turkey Trot Hunter Camp is a primitive camping area located in the Caney Ranger District of Kisatchie National Forest near Homer, Louisiana. As a designated hunter's camp, it is primarily maintained during hunting season but remains open year-round for use by all visitors. The campground offers a truly primitive camping experience with minimal development and facilities. Visitors to Turkey Trot Camp should come prepared for dispersed-style camping with no amenities. The site does not provide potable water, picnic tables, restrooms, or trash collection. Campers must be fully self-sufficient and practice Leave No Trace principles. The camp is located in the Middle Fork area alongside Bucktail Camp, another primitive hunter's camp in the district. Access to Turkey Trot Camp is via Louisiana Highway 9 to Forest Road 940, then north on Forest Road 910 where the camp is located on the east side of the road. The location provides access to the surrounding national forest for hunting and nature observation. There is no fee required to camp at this primitive site.

Directions

Travel northeast on Louisiana Highway 9 to Forest Road 940 and turn left (northwest). Go north onto Forest Road 910 and Turkey Trot will be on the east side of the road.
