About
Wenks Landing is a peaceful primitive campground managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, situated upstream of Bayou Bodcau Dam in northwest Louisiana. The 11 tent-only sites are positioned along the bayou banks, providing direct access to the water and scenic views of the moss-laden cypress swamps that characterize this 33,500-acre public land area.
Each site includes a fire ring, grill, picnic table, lantern pole, and trash can. The campground provides flush toilets and a potable water spigot. A boat ramp offers direct access to Bayou Bodcau for fishing and paddling. There are no electrical hookups, showers, or dump station.
Bayou Bodcau functions as a dry reservoir that fills during periods of high rainfall. The area supports diverse ecosystems including bottomland forests and cypress swamps, home to alligators, beavers, bald eagles, and some of Louisiana's largest champion trees. Ivan Lake, a 500-acre fishing lake, is nearby. The campground is well off main travel routes, ensuring a quiet experience away from traffic noise.
Directions
From Interstate 20, take exit 44. Travel north on US-371 for 20.5 miles. Turn left onto Wenks Landing Road and follow it straight until it ends at the campground.
