About

Bucktail Hunter Camp is a designated primitive hunter's camp located in the Middle Fork Unit of the Caney Ranger District within Kisatchie National Forest. Situated in Claiborne Parish near Homer, Louisiana, this rustic site caters primarily to hunters seeking a no-frills camping experience in the piney woods of northwest Louisiana. The camp is open year-round and operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no camping fee. However, visitors should note that the site is only maintained during hunting season, so those visiting at other times will find an even more primitive experience. Potable water is available on-site, but other amenities are extremely limited. This location is ideal for hunters and outdoor enthusiasts seeking solitude and a back-to-basics experience. The surrounding Kisatchie National Forest offers opportunities for hunting and wildlife observation in a dense forest setting with flat terrain.
