About
Trinidad Lake State Park sits on a 2,960-acre reservoir surrounded by pinyon-juniper forest in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. The park provides 73 campsites split between two campgrounds: Carpios Ridge, which remains open year-round, and South Shore, which operates seasonally from May 1 through October 15. The Carpios Ridge Campground features electrical service at every site, with sites 1-4, 6, 62, and 63 offering full hookups (electric, water, sewer) from mid-April to mid-November. Facilities include a camper services building with showers, laundry, and flush toilets operating mid-March through mid-October. Vault toilets and water hydrants are available throughout the campgrounds. A dump station serves RV campers, though the flush stand is winterized during cold months. Picnic tables are provided at each site, and universally accessible facilities are available at Carpios Ridge. The reservoir offers fishing for rainbow and brown trout, largemouth bass, catfish, walleye, crappie, and bluegill. The park maintains 10.3 miles of trails and 46 picnic areas. Boating is permitted with mandatory watercraft inspections at the boat ramp.
