About

Toad Springs is a small developed campground tucked in a canyon near Pine Mountain Club in the Mt. Pinos Ranger District of Los Padres National Forest. Easily accessed via Quatal Canyon Road, approximately half a mile southwest from Sierra Noroeste Road, the campground sits at 5,550 feet elevation and serves as a convenient base camp for OHV enthusiasts exploring the nearby Quatal Canyon routes. The campground offers 5-6 primitive campsites shaded by pinyon pines and exotic trees, with numerous Great Basin sage shrubs throughout. Each site features picnic tables, and the camp includes 2 Klamath stoves and 3 metal fire rings. Pit toilets are available, along with a sign and bulletin board. Campers must bring their own water, though a spring can be found 2/10 mile down the dry wash from the campsite. The area is particularly popular with hunters during fall season. Down Quatal Canyon Road 9N04, visitors can explore a designated Geological Reserve featuring steeply eroded cliffs of colorful sandstone and shale. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with a 14-day stay limit, providing an intimate camping experience for those seeking solitude in the forest.
