About
Sunset Campground is a 54-site facility located on Lake Pillsbury in the Mendocino National Forest, operated by Pacific Gas and Electric. The campground provides a scenic lakeside setting with opportunities for fishing, boating, and hiking. Each site includes a picnic table and stove/grill, with vault toilets distributed throughout the campground. The campground operates seasonally from May through September and does not accept reservations. All sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Check-in is at 2:00 p.m. and check-out at 11:00 a.m., with quiet hours enforced from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Sites are limited to 6 people maximum. A nature trail is located directly across from the campground entrance. Lake Pillsbury offers motorized boating with a launch ramp nearby. Note that potable water is not currently available at this site; campers should bring their own water supply.
Directions
From Ukiah: 6 miles north on US 101, 5 miles east on California Highway 20, then 26 miles northwest on County Road 240 (Potter Valley-Lake Pillsbury Road). Alternatively, from Upper Lake: 31 miles north on County Road 301 (Forest Road M-1).
