This shelter sits at the junction of the Appalachian National Scenic Trail and the coincident Long Trail, offering a rustic overnight experience for hikers. Stratton Pond is the largest body of water along the Long Trail and represents one of the most popular overnight destinations on the Appalachian Trail in Vermont. The site is located approximately 4.5 miles from the Arlington/West Wardsboro Road trailhead via the Stratton Pond and Lye Brook hiking trails. As a designated backcountry site, camping is restricted to the shelter and designated tent areas only to minimize impact on the pond's shoreline and ecosystem.
