About
Spar Lake Campground is a quiet, primitive campground tucked into the mountains of the Kootenai National Forest in northwestern Montana. Located 2.5 miles east of Troy and then 17 miles south on Lake Creek Road 384, the campground sits at 3,300 feet elevation along the shores of Spar Lake. The 13 sites, including one camp host site, are equipped with picnic tables and fire rings. The campground features vault toilets and a boat ramp designed for launching small watercraft onto Spar Lake. There is no potable water on site, so campers must bring their own supply. Most sites can accommodate vehicles with an overall length of up to 28 feet. The campground is managed from mid-May through mid-September, though access is generally possible from mid-May through mid-November depending on weather and road conditions. Spar Lake offers opportunities for fishing and non-motorized boating in a secluded setting. The surrounding Kootenai National Forest provides additional hiking and wildlife viewing opportunities. Pets are allowed but must be kept on a leash. Supplies, gas, and laundry services are available in Troy.
