About
Bull River Pavilion is a reservable group picnic facility located within Bull River Campground in the Kootenai National Forest, approximately 11 miles east of the Idaho border on Highway 200. The pavilion sits in a natural wooded area at the confluence of the Bull River and Clark Fork River, where both rivers empty into the 3,200-acre Cabinet Gorge Reservoir at an elevation of 2,200 feet. The surrounding forest features cedar and Douglas fir trees. The pavilion can accommodate groups of 1-50 people at $75 per night, or 51 or more people at $150 per night, and is available for day use and overnight rentals. The Bull River Campground area offers flush and vault toilets, and a fully developed boat launch with a dock. The rivers and reservoir provide excellent opportunities for fishing, with large and smallmouth bass, perch, rainbow and brown trout, and squawfish in the waters. Boating, sailing, and water skiing are popular activities on Cabinet Gorge Reservoir. Nearby attractions include the Noxon Rapids Dam, located less than 10 miles southeast, which offers tours of the earthen, gravity-type hydroelectric facility that has been in operation for more than 50 years. The campground is managed from Memorial Day through Labor Day, with the gate closed December 1 through May 1, though early closure may occur with heavy snow. The boat launch remains available year-round weather permitting.
