About

Big Eddy Campground is a small, primitive campground in the Kootenai National Forest along the Clark Fork River in Sanders County, Montana. Located approximately 6 miles east of the Idaho border on Highway 200, the campground sits at an elevation of 2,185 feet and provides easy access to fishing and motorized boating opportunities. The campground features 5 campsites, each equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. Sites can accommodate RVs and trailers up to 30 feet in length. Vault toilets are available, but there is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. A fully developed boat ramp with a dock serves anglers and boaters accessing the Clark Fork River. Two day-use sites near the boat ramp include a covered shelter, picnic tables, and fire grills. This is a no-fee campground operated on a first-come, first-served basis. While the campground is actively managed from Memorial Day through Labor Day, it remains accessible year-round depending on weather and road conditions. A 16-day stay limit applies. Pets are welcome but must be kept on a leash.
