The campground is available year-round but managed with camphost services from May through September. Security gate closes at 10:00 pm and opens at 7:00 am daily during managed season. No current closures or alerts. Fire danger is low.

About
Bad Medicine Campground is located at the scenic southern shore of Bull Lake in the Kootenai National Forest, providing excellent access to fishing, boating, and the nearby Ross Creek Cedars Scenic Area. The campground features 18 sites (including one host site) with paved roads and parking spurs, making it accessible for RVs up to approximately 32 feet. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. Amenities include potable water available from a hand pump and vault toilets. A fully developed boat ramp with dock provides direct lake access for fishing and water recreation. The campground also has 6 day-use picnic sites near the boat ramp. A security gate is closed from 10:00 pm to 7:00 am daily by the camphost. The area offers outstanding recreational opportunities including fishing on Bull Lake, hiking in the Cabinet Mountains Wilderness, and exploring the ancient cedars at the nearby Ross Creek Cedars Grove. The nearest services for gas, groceries, and laundry are in Troy, approximately 25 miles north.
Directions
From Troy, follow Highway 2 east for 3 miles to the junction with Highway 56. Turn south and follow Highway 56 for 21 miles to the south end of Bull Lake and Ross Creek Cedars Road 398. Follow Road 398 for approximately 2 miles to the campground.
