About

Sea Camp Campground offers the most accessible camping experience on Georgia's Cumberland Island, a pristine barrier island reachable only by boat. The campground sits half a mile east of the Sea Camp ferry dock along a well-traveled trail. All 16 individual sites and 2 group sites are walk-in tent sites with fire rings, grills, picnic tables, and food storage lockers to protect against raccoons. The campground provides modern amenities uncommon on the island: flush toilets, cold showers, potable drinking water, and electricity for recharging devices at the ranger station. One site offers wheelchair-accessible features including an accessible table and fire ring, with accessible restrooms and showers nearby. The ground surface is relatively hard-packed but not fully ADA-compliant. Cumberland Island is a wilderness experience with wild horses, pristine beaches, and maritime forest. Most visitors arrive via the Cumberland Island Ferry from St. Marys, Georgia. The ferry does not operate on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from December through February. Reservations are required and can be made up to six months in advance through Recreation.gov. The campground fills quickly, especially during peak season (March through June).
