About
Schwartz Cabin is one of two historic 1880s cabins available for rental in the South Park Ranger District of Pike National Forest, nestled at the base of Boreas Pass in Park County, Colorado. This rustic single-room structure is eligible for placement on the National Register of Historic Places and offers a glimpse into Colorado's mining and railroad heritage.
The cabin accommodates up to 3 guests with one full bed and one twin bed, heated by a full-size wood stove. No water, electricity, cooking utensils, or bedding are provided. Guests must bring an ample water supply, sleeping bags or blankets, flashlights, matches, and firewood. A vault toilet is shared with nearby Roberts Cabin, located about 200 yards to the south.
The location provides convenient access to Como, Breckenridge, Fairplay, and the Colorado Trail. Winter activities like cross-country skiing and sledding are available when conditions permit.
Directions
From Como, CO, drive west on County Road 33 for approximately 4 miles until the road turns sharply right towards Boreas Pass. Schwartz Cabin is located behind Roberts Cabin. Parking is along the east side of the road.
