About
Selkirk Campground sits at 10,500 feet elevation in Pike National Forest, about 8 miles north of the small town of Como, Colorado. This remote, high-altitude campground offers 15 campsites nestled among mature trees, providing a peaceful mountain camping experience. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis only with no advance reservations available.
Facilities are basic but functional, including vault toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings at each site. No potable water is available on-site, so campers must bring an adequate supply. There are no trash services, and all waste must be packed out. The campground can accommodate trailers up to 25 feet in length, with space for two vehicles or one RV per site included in the nightly fee. Access is via gravel Forest Service roads that can become impassable when snow arrives.
The area is active bear habitat, and campers are required to store all food and scented items in a bear-resistant manner. Bear bags, bear boxes, and coolers stored in hard-sided vehicles are acceptable methods. The campground enforces a 14-night consecutive stay limit and quiet hours from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Dogs are permitted but must remain on leash at all times.
