About

Savage River Campground is located at Mile 13 of the Denali Park Road within Denali National Park and Preserve. Set in a spruce forest, the campground offers 32 individual sites plus 3 group sites with moderate screening between them. The campground sits at the furthest point accessible by personal vehicle during summer months, making it a convenient base for exploring the park. On clear days, campers can see Denali from a short walk below the campground. The Savage River Loop trail provides excellent hiking opportunities, and wildlife viewing is common throughout the area. The campground can accommodate RVs and trailers with a combined length of up to 40 feet. Sites include fire grates and picnic tables, and food storage lockers are available for tent campers. Amenities include flush toilets during the operating season and vault toilets that remain year-round, potable water (seasonal), an amphitheater, and a volunteer host. There are no showers, electrical hookups, or cell service. Campers must check in at the Wilderness Access Center or Riley Creek Mercantile before driving to the campground. Reservations are strongly recommended and available through Recreation.gov.
