About

Rifle Gap State Park encompasses 1,341 acres in western Colorado, centered around a 360-acre reservoir that serves as the primary attraction. The park features five distinct campgrounds—Cottonwood, Cedar, Sage, Pinion, and Lakeview—offering a total of 89 campsites along the reservoir's north shore. Camping options range from basic sites at Sage and Pinion to electric sites at Cottonwood and Cedar, with Lakeview providing full hookups and walk-in tent sites. Walk-in tent sites are nestled among pinyon and juniper trees, offering privacy with covered picnic tables and fire pits. All campgrounds have restrooms, and most feature coin-operated showers located centrally. The Pinion campground has been modified to accommodate hammock camping. A dump station serves RV campers. The reservoir offers outstanding water recreation including boating, fishing, swimming, water skiing, and windsurfing. A boat ramp is located on the north side of the lake. The visitor center provides first aid, restrooms, a gift shop, and handles boat, OHV, and snowmobile registrations. An 18-hole golf course is adjacent to the park.
