Riana - Abiquiu Lake

Riana Campground occupies a dramatic 150-foot rock bluff overlooking the turquoise waters of Abiquiu Lake, a reservoir on the Rio Chama in northern New Mexico. At 6,400 feet elevation, the campground is surrounded by fragrant pinion pine, juniper, and sage, with colorful rock formations framing views of Cerro Pedernal, the flat-topped mesa where Georgia O'Keeffe's ashes were scattered. The 52-site campground is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Albuquerque District. Thirteen sites in the Pedernal Loop offer electric (20 amp) and water hookups on level, paved surfaces suitable for larger RVs. Standard non-electric sites accommodate tents, trailers, and RVs up to 30 feet. Walk-to tent sites and group shelters are also available. All individual sites include a picnic table, fire ring, grill, and lantern post. Facilities include flush toilets, showers, potable water, trash service, a dump station, and a playground. Boat launching access to the lake is one mile away. The campground operates seasonally from April 15 through October 15, with reservations available through Recreation.gov. Abiquiu Lake and Riana Campground are alcohol-free. Ghost Ranch, the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum, Bandelier National Monument, and Santa Fe are all within an hour's drive.

From Espanola, NM, travel 30 miles north on US Highway 84. Turn west onto State Highway 96 and continue 1 mile to the Riana Campground entrance.
