About

Lake Macbride State Park spans 2,180 acres in the wooded valleys of Mill and Jordan Creeks in Johnson County, Iowa. The park operates two distinct campgrounds: a modern facility in the northern unit with electric and full hookup sites plus shower building and dump station, and a non-modern campground in the southern unit with a beautiful shaded setting near the lake featuring both flush and pit toilets. The 812-acre lake offers exceptional fishing for walleye, channel catfish, muskie, and the prized Kentucky spotted bass. The park's swimming beach operates with concessions and boat rentals from Memorial Day through Labor Day, offering pontoons, motorboats, kayaks, canoes, and paddleboats. Over seven miles of trails wind through the park, including a five-mile crushed limestone multi-use trail connecting to the town of Solon and a scenic 1.5-mile trail between the beach and dam. The park provides three reservable picnic shelters, a day-use lodge, fishing jetties, an accessible fishing pier, and 24-hour shoreline fishing access. Cross-country skiing and snowmobiling are popular winter activities when conditions permit.
