About
Harding Lake State Recreation Area has been one of the longest-standing facilities in the Alaska State Park system since 1967. Located 45 miles south of Fairbanks on the Richardson Highway, the park sits along the shores of Harding Lake, offering excellent recreational opportunities including fishing, boating, and swimming. The main campground features 78 vehicle sites and five walk-in group campsites nestled in a spruce and birch forest. Each site includes a fire ring and picnic table. Additional camping space is available for self-contained units on weekdays at the Lakefront day use area, and the Camp Lot area near the lake accommodates up to 10 camping units. Park amenities include vault toilets, seasonal drinking water, a dump station, two picnic shelters, boat launch, and recreational facilities for baseball, volleyball, and horseshoes. The park is an excellent base for exploring Interior Alaska while enjoying lakeside camping.
