Closed — Closed for the season. The campground operates from Memorial Day weekend through mid-September. Access via Nome Creek Road is typically closed Monday through Friday during the summer season for ongoing road improvements.

About

Ophir Creek Campground is located at the western end of the Nome Creek Valley on the southern edge of the White Mountains National Recreation Area. The campground offers 20 campsites including one group site, all nestled among tall white spruce trees along the bank of Nome Creek. The setting provides an excellent base for exploring the surrounding wilderness. The campground operates first-come-first-served and includes basic amenities: hand pump wells for water, pit toilets, trash collection, picnic tables, and fire rings at each site. Firewood is not provided. The nearest RV dump station is located in Fairbanks. An accessible toilet and hand water pump are available. Each site includes a parking area suitable for various camping vehicles. Recreational opportunities include fishing and gold panning in Nome Creek, hiking the nearby 3-mile Table Top Mountain loop trail with views of the White Mountains peaks, and wildlife watching. The campground serves as the primary put-in point for floating the Beaver Creek Wild and Scenic River. Access from Fairbanks requires driving the Steese Highway to mile 57, then U.S. Creek Road for seven miles, followed by 12 miles on Nome Creek Road.

From Fairbanks, take the Steese Highway to mile 57 and follow the U.S. Creek Road for seven miles to the Nome Creek Road. Turn left at the junction and continue 12 miles to Ophir Creek Campground.
