The campground is currently closed and opens around late May for the summer season. Sites are first-come-first-served at $12 per night. The campground is maintained June through mid-September, with access typically available until snow closes the road in October.

About

Mount Prindle Campground is one of two developed campgrounds in the Nome Creek Valley, positioned at the eastern end where the terrain rises toward Mount Prindle's alpine tundra. The 13 first-come-first-served sites are spread among tall willow shrubs, offering relative privacy while providing direct access to some of Interior Alaska's most accessible backcountry. The Quartz Creek Trail departs from the campground, climbing into expansive alpine meadows and eventually connecting with other routes in the White Mountains trail system. Nome Creek itself runs through the valley and remains open to recreational gold panning. The creek also serves as a departure point for float trips on the Beaver Creek Wild and Scenic River. Facilities are basic but functional: each site includes a parking spur, picnic table, and fire ring. The campground has vault toilets, trash service, and hand-pump wells, though water may not be potable. Firewood is not provided. The nearest RV dump station is in Fairbanks, roughly 80 miles south.

Directions

From Fairbanks, take the Steese Highway to mile 57 and follow U.S. Creek Road for 7 miles to Nome Creek Road. Turn right at the junction and continue 4 miles to the upper end of Nome Creek Valley and Mount Prindle Campground.
