About
Quigley Group Use Site sits in forested mountain terrain on the top of MacDonald Pass about 15 miles west of Helena, Montana. Located right on the Continental Divide at 6,300 feet elevation, this undeveloped group camping area can accommodate approximately 40 people beneath a canopy of lodgepole pine and Douglas fir trees. The site offers spectacular views of surrounding country encompassing meadows, timbered slopes, and mountains.
The Continental Divide National Scenic Trail mile 616 is just a few hundred feet from the group use site, providing immediate access to hiking and biking opportunities. The area features diverse ecosystems supporting wildlife including grizzly bear, deer, elk, gray wolf, moose, black bear, and mountain lion. An extensive road system to the west and east allows visitors to explore the area and view old mining relics, while the terrain to the south and north offers a non-motorized, more remote experience.
The site includes a vault toilet and several gravel tent spots, but is otherwise undeveloped. Limited trailer parking is available, and trailers should not exceed 20 feet in length. The area is near the Cromwell-Dixon Campground and a trailhead, both well used by the general public during summer months.
