About
Poso Campground sits on a quiet hillside above South Fork Creek, surrounded by spruce and aspen trees in the Rio Grande National Forest. This small, primitive campground has 8 sites, each equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. Two vault toilets serve the campground, but no potable water is available, so campers should bring their own or be prepared to purify stream water. The campground provides access to excellent fishing in Cave Creek (just below the campground), Poso Creek, and South Fork Carnero Creek. Mountain biking is popular on forest roads leading up to Coolbroth Canyon, which connects to La Garita Trail and Geronimo Creek Trail. Big game hunting is available in the surrounding area during appropriate seasons. Access requires navigating a single-lane dirt road with turnouts after entering the National Forest. Maximum trailer length is 25 feet. A group picnic site is located nearby for larger gatherings.
