About

Dixon Springs State Park Campground sits in the heart of southern Illinois's Shawnee region, where ancient sandstone formations have carved dramatic canyons and waterfalls over 315 million years. The park offers multiple camping options to suit different styles: a Class B trailer camping area provides electricity and access to a sanitary dump station, while tent campers can opt for the primitive experience. Possum Creek Campground operates as a Class C facility with vehicular access, drinking water, vault toilets, pedestal stoves, fire blocks, and fire rings, though it lacks showers and electricity. Group camping and cabins are available for organized groups at Shady Grove Campground by reservation. The park also features a swimming pool, fishing, and hiking trails through the scenic canyon country. Campsite #1 is designated accessible with a wheelchair-accessible picnic table and grill. Water hydrants are available throughout the campground, and service animals are welcome. Reservations can be made through the ExploreMoreIL reservation system.
