About

Palisades Campground sits along the Upper Madison River at 5,500 feet elevation, approximately 25 miles south of Ennis in Madison County. The campground provides 10 primitive campsites spread across 80 acres of riverside terrain, each equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. Two accessible vault toilets serve the campground, and a host site provides seasonal oversight. The location is popular with anglers targeting the Madison River's renowned trout fishery. A separate day-use area adjacent to the campground features a paved boat launch capable of accommodating standard trailers with 2WD vehicles. The campground operates on a pack-in, pack-out trash policy. Palisades is one of six BLM campgrounds along the Madison River corridor managed by the Dillon Field Office. Modern off-grid payment kiosks installed in 2026 accept credit cards in addition to cash and checks.
