About
Onion Valley Campground is a remote and peaceful retreat located on a beautiful creek in a scenic meadow within the Tahoe National Forest. The campground is shaded by towering cedar, pine, and fir trees, providing a pleasant escape into nature. Situated in the Emigrant Gap/Texas Hill area, this campground offers a true backcountry experience with no cell service available. The campground operates seasonally from Memorial Day through Labor Day, with sites available on a first-come, first-served basis at $18 per night. While drinking water is not available on-site, campers can access water at nearby campgrounds. Vault toilets are provided for visitor convenience. Accessed via Texas Hill Road 19, approximately 7 miles southeast from the Emigrant Gap exit on I-80, Onion Valley serves as an excellent base for mountain biking and exploring the surrounding national forest. The remote location and beautiful setting make it a popular destination during the summer season.
