About

Ogden Group campground is situated on the scenic Paulina Creek in the high desert region of central Oregon, within Deschutes National Forest. The campground offers two large group sites that can each accommodate up to 100 people, making it an excellent choice for scout groups, school outings, and family reunions. Each group area has its own toilet facilities. The campground serves as a gateway to outdoor recreation in the Newberry National Volcanic Monument area. The Peter Skene Ogden National Scenic Trail is accessible directly from the campground, following Paulina Creek upstream for 8.5 miles to Paulina Lake while passing several waterfalls. Anglers can fish for salmon and trout in the surrounding clear, cold lakes and streams. The Crater Rim Trail offers high country hiking with vast stretches of forest, deserts, and mountains. Visitors can explore the unique geological features of Newberry National Volcanic Monument, including numerous cinder cones, basalt flows, and rhyolite flows of obsidian. The monument's 17-square-mile Newberry Crater caldera sits atop a 500-square-mile volcano that remains both seismically and geothermally active. At 7,985 feet elevation, nearby Paulina Peak provides panoramic views of the Oregon Cascades and High Desert region.
