About

Oasis State Park sits just north of Portales on the Llano Estacado, where an unexpected green refuge emerges from the sandy high plains of eastern New Mexico. The park's fishing pond is stocked with catfish and trout, and over 80 bird species visit throughout the year, making it a worthwhile stop for birders and anglers alike. The campground features 28 developed sites with varying utility configurations: water-only sites, 30-amp and 50-amp electric hookups, and two full-hookup sites with sewer. Each site has a covered picnic table and pedestal grill. Modern restrooms with showers, a dump station, playground, and visitor center round out the facilities. Two ADA-accessible campsites are available. Trails wind through the distinctive sand dunes that characterize this region, offering opportunities to spot lizards, snakes, and the park's abundant birdlife. The peaceful, shaded campground provides a comfortable base for exploring this unexpected oasis on the eastern plains.
