About

North Mountain is a dispersed camping area located in the Darrington Ranger District of Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. The site features one campsite tucked among trees and a picnic area adjacent to Texas Pond. The elevated terrain offers scenic views, particularly during early summer when wildflowers bloom, and provides wildlife viewing opportunities. The location is particularly appealing to mountain bike enthusiasts, as the site connects directly to miles of Forest Service roads and the North Mountain Bike Trail System. Fishing is available via established paths around the pond. As a dispersed campsite, facilities are primitive. There is a vault toilet on site, but no potable water, trash service, or camp host. Campers must bring their own water and pack out all trash. The site operates on a first-come, first-served basis.

Directions

From the Darrington Ranger Station, drive 5.6 miles north. Turn left at the Christian Camp sign on Forest Service Road 28. Drive 1 mile and make a left just past the Christian Camp. Continue 3.6 miles to the campsite.
