About
Bedal Campground provides a quiet, primitive camping experience in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest along the scenic Mountain Loop Highway. Situated on the banks of the Sauk River, every campsite offers the sound of rushing water through a canopy of old-growth forest. The 22 standard nonelectric sites are equipped with picnic tables, tent pads, and fire rings, while vault toilets serve the campground. Campers must bring their own water as no potable water is available on site. A boat ramp provides access for whitewater paddlers and kayakers. The surrounding area offers excellent hiking opportunities including the nearby North Fork Sauk Falls, a short descent rewarding visitors with views of cascading 45-foot waterfalls. The final 7.5 miles of access road is a graveled single-lane section with variable conditions depending on weather and maintenance. Large RVs and trailers are not recommended; vehicles are limited to 32 feet maximum. The campground typically hosts a camp host from May through Labor Day.
Directions
From Darrington, travel 16 miles southeast on the Mountain Loop Scenic Byway. The campground is located on the west side of the road at mile post 37, just beyond the junction of Mountain Loop and Forest Road 49. The final 7.5 miles are along a graveled single-lane section with variable conditions. Access via Darrington is recommended as the Barlow Pass section may be gated.
