About

Molly Brown Campground occupies a prime location on the eastern shore of Turquoise Lake within the Pike-San Isabel National Forest, nestled in a lodgepole pine forest at 9,900 feet elevation. The campground is named after Margaret "Molly" Brown, the famous Titanic survivor and philanthropist who lived in nearby Leadville during Colorado's mining boom. The 49-site campground includes both standard sites and two tent-only sites, each equipped with a picnic table and fire ring with grate. Recreation opportunities abound at this high-altitude destination. The 1.2-mile Turquoise Lake Nature Trail loops through the forest and along the shoreline, connecting to the longer 6.4-mile Turquoise Lake Trail that follows the water's edge to May Queen Campground. Turquoise Lake supports mackinaw and rainbow trout fishing, and the open waters welcome sailing, canoeing, and motorized boating. The nearby Mount Massive Wilderness encompasses Colorado's second-highest peak at 14,421 feet. Leadville, just 5 miles east, offers historic mining-town charm and serves as a gateway to Independence Pass and the Top of the Rockies Scenic Byway. Firewood is sold at the campground host site. Maximum occupancy is 8 people per site with up to 3 tents or 1 RV plus 2 tents allowed.
