About
Named after Margaret "Molly" Brown, the unsinkable Titanic survivor who lived in nearby Leadville, this campground sits in a shaded lodgepole pine forest on the eastern shore of Turquoise Lake at 9,900 feet elevation. The campground offers 49 campsites perched along the scenic lake waters in the San Isabel National Forest. The 1.2-mile Turquoise Lake Nature Trail is a gentle loop through the forest down to the shoreline, connecting to the 6.4-mile Turquoise Lake Trail that parallels the shoreline from the dam to May Queen Campground. On the lake, visitors enjoy sailing, boating, canoeing, and fishing for mackinaw and rainbow trout. The nearby Mount Massive Wilderness encompasses Colorado's second highest peak at 14,421 feet. The historic gold and silver mining town of Leadville is 5 miles east, and the Top of the Rockies Scenic Byway provides access to Independence Pass, one of Colorado's highest paved passes. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire ring with grate, with firewood available for purchase at the host site.
