Special Weather Statement issued May 22 at 1:43PM EDT by NWS Gaylord MI

1:43 PM — 8:00 PM

The combination of dry surface conditions, low afternoon relative humidity values, and gusty east to southeast winds will result in elevated fire danger conditions across northern lower Michigan the remainder of this afternoon. Sustained winds of 7 to 15 mph with gusts of 20 to 30 mph will be seen over northern Michigan this afternoon. Minimum relative humidity values of 20 to 35 percent are expected over much of northern lower Michigan. These conditions could lead to rapid spread of fires. Check burning restrictions and fire danger before burning. For more information on burning restrictions for Michigan, see www.dnr.state.mi.us//.

About

Meadows ORV Campground is a small, rustic facility nestled among pine and hardwood forest in Huron National Forest's Mio Ranger District. The campground primarily serves off-highway vehicle riders with 12 single sites that accommodate trailers and RVs up to 25 feet in length. Each site features a picnic table, campfire ring, and lantern post. The Meadows ORV Trail System runs along the south edge of the campground, providing direct trail access for vehicles 50 inches or less in width. This trail connects to the Mack Lake Trail System and Bull Gap Hill Climb, with grades ranging from 0-10% and some short 30% stretches. Orange triangle confidence markers guide riders. The campground's isolated location away from light pollution makes it an excellent stargazing destination. Facilities include vault toilets, a hand-pump well for drinking water, and garbage collection services. The west branch of Big Creek is crossed by Meadows West Trail just southwest of the campground.
