About

Mancos State Park sits in the southwestern plateau region of Colorado, centered around Jackson Gulch Reservoir. The 32-site campground and two yurts are nestled in a ponderosa pine forest with views of the reservoir and surrounding mountains. Campsites are basic and best suited for tent camping, as no electrical hookups are available. The yurts feature electric power, a queen bed, queen futon, and twin bunk, accommodating up to six people. The park offers year-round recreation including fishing for rainbow trout, largemouth bass, and channel catfish. Winter activities include ice fishing, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing when conditions permit. The west campground closes to vehicles November 1 through March 31, but several sites in the main campground's upper loop remain open year-round. Mancos is centrally located for day trips to Mesa Verde National Park (8 miles), Durango, and numerous San Juan National Forest trailheads. The park's relatively small size and quiet atmosphere make it a peaceful alternative to busier regional destinations.

Directions

From Mancos, head north on Highway 184 for a quarter mile, then take County Road 42 east approximately four miles. Follow County Road N into the park.
