About
Link Creek Campground occupies prime shoreline on 253-acre Suttle Lake in the Deschutes National Forest, surrounded by mixed conifer forest with stunning mountain views. As the most popular of three Suttle Lake campgrounds, it features 33 campsites with mostly flat terrain and easy lake access, making it ideal for families and RVs up to 50 feet. The campground includes a boat ramp accommodating both motorized and non-motorized watercraft, vault toilets, and a pressurized drinking water system available during the operating season. About 60% of sites are reservable, with the remainder first-come, first-served. Suttle Lake's deep, clear waters sustain excellent populations of naturally reproducing kokanee, brown trout, whitefish, and crayfish. Link Creek itself flows into the lake with water shallow and clear enough to observe spawning fish. The 3.2-mile Suttle Lake Loop Trail provides relatively flat hiking through wooded shoreline with fishing and picnicking opportunities. In autumn, local vine maple displays brilliant orange, red, and yellow foliage. Three yurts remain available year-round for winter visitors who enjoy cross-country skiing and snowshoeing when snow blankets the area. The campground serves as a gateway to the extensive trail systems of Deschutes National Forest and nearby Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway.
Directions
From Sisters, travel 13.2 miles northwest on Highway 20, then turn left onto Forest Road 2070 and continue 2.3 miles west. The Link Creek entrance is on the right at Blue Bay.
