About

Laura S. Walker State Park sits at the northern edge of the mysterious Okefenokee Swamp, about 9 miles southeast of Waycross in Ware County, Georgia. The 626-acre park centers around a 120-acre lake that offers excellent opportunities for fishing, swimming, and boating. Kayaks and bicycles are available for rent, and a wildlife observation boardwalk provides chances to spot alligators and carnivorous pitcher plants native to the swamp ecosystem. The campground features 44 tent, trailer, and RV campsites equipped with water and electric hookups. Modern comfort stations provide hot showers, flush toilets, and electrical outlets. A dump station serves RV campers, and pull-through sites are available. The park also offers six fully-equipped cottages, a group camp sleeping 142, a pioneer campground, and four group shelters. Beyond camping, the park boasts The Lakes Golf Course, an 18-hole championship course with a clubhouse and pro shop. Four miles of hiking trails wind through the park, and amenities include a playground, dog park, sand beach, and laundry facilities. WiFi is available in the visitor center and campground.
