About

Jorgen's Hollow Campground sits within the 70,000-acre Sheyenne National Grassland, the largest remaining intact tallgrass prairie ecosystem in the public domain. The campground's 14 semi-primitive sites are divided between standard camping (sites 1-3, 5, 6, 12-14) and equestrian camping (sites 4, 7-11). Horse campers have access to hitching rails, corrals, and highlines. Each site features a graveled parking pad capable of accommodating vehicles up to 60 feet, along with a picnic table and fire ring. Recreation opportunities abound with direct trail access from the campground. The Oak Leaf Trail offers a 4-mile loop through the surrounding oak savanna, while 31 miles of the North Country National Scenic Trail pass through the area. The Sheyenne River Water Trail provides 17 river miles of canoeing and kayaking, with its final access point located just 1.5 miles from camp. Wildlife viewing, birding, wildflower identification, hunting, and photography are popular activities throughout the grassland. Facilities include two vault toilets (one near the kiosk remains accessible in winter) and a hand-pump well providing potable water. There are no hookups, dump station, or showers. Firewood restrictions are in effect; campers should check current fire conditions before arrival.
