About

Jorgen's Hollow Campground is located forty miles southwest of Fargo in the Sheyenne National Grassland, the country's only tallgrass prairie national grassland. The campground features 14 semi-primitive campsites nestled within the oak savanna, with seven sites designated for campers with horses and seven for those without. Each campsite has a graveled pad, picnic table, and fire ring. Parking pads accommodate vehicles up to 60 feet long. The campground serves as a gateway to extensive trail systems, including the North Country National Scenic Trail and Oak Leaf Trail, with trailheads located within the campground. Visitors can enjoy hiking, wildlife viewing, birding, identifying wildflowers, and horseback riding. The Sheyenne National Grassland is home to nearly 300 bird species, including greater prairie chicken, sharp-tailed grouse, pileated woodpecker, and scarlet tanager. The oak savanna provides a park-like setting with beautiful autumn colors. This is a pack-in, pack-out campground with no electrical hookups. Water is available from a hand pump, and vault toilets are provided. All sites operate on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. The campground is open year-round, with limited services after Labor Day and before Memorial Day.

Directions

Located 28 miles northeast of Lisbon. From ND Highway 27, turn north onto County Road 4 for three miles, then turn east for one mile to County Road 23. Travel north on County Road 23 for two and three-quarters miles to the campground. From ND Highway 18, turn west onto County Road 4 for three miles, then turn north on County Road 23 for two and three-quarters miles to the campground.
