About
Jefferson Springs Recreation Area is a lakeside day-use facility in the hills of middle Tennessee on J. Percy Priest Lake. The area features a large electric group shelter that can accommodate up to 100 guests with parking for up to 35 vehicles, making it an ideal venue for family gatherings, reunions, and group events. J. Percy Priest Dam and Lake was one of the first Corps of Engineers lakes to have recreation as part of its mission. Completed in 1968, the dam impounds 42 miles of shoreline with 14,200 surface acres of water. Adjacent to the lake are 19,087 acres of grasslands and woodlands, including the Cedar Glades Natural Area. Visitors can enjoy fishing for largemouth and smallmouth bass, crappie, striped bass, catfish, and bluegill. Other activities include boating, canoeing, hiking, and wildlife viewing. Note that this is a day-use facility only; overnight camping is not permitted. For overnight accommodations at J. Percy Priest Lake, consider nearby campgrounds such as Anderson Road, Seven Points, or Poole Knobs.
