About
Goose Lake Campground occupies a prime location in the renowned Lakes Basin recreation area of Plumas National Forest, at an elevation of 6,700 feet. The campground provides direct access to Goose Lake, a scenic body of water ideal for paddling, with connections to an extensive trail network reaching more than 20 alpine lakes in the surrounding granite landscape. Hiking, mountain biking, and equestrian use are all popular on nearby trails.
The campground has 13 designated sites, each equipped with a picnic table, fire ring with grill, food locker for bear-country food storage, and parking. Vault toilets serve the facility, but there is no potable water available, so campers must pack in their own supply. Access roads to some sites are rough and unpaved. The campground operates under a 14-day stay limit, with a maximum of 6 people and 2 vehicles per site. OHV use is prohibited.
The Lakes Basin area is bear country, and proper food storage using the provided lockers is mandatory. Senior and Access passes are honored for the nightly camping fee. The surrounding landscape offers outstanding scenery and abundant recreation opportunities throughout the short high-elevation summer season.
