About
Huginnin Cove Campground is a remote wilderness camping destination on the north shore of Isle Royale National Park, accessible only by foot, canoe, or kayak via the West and East Huginnin Cove Trails. This primitive campground offers 5 first-come, first-served tent sites in a rugged backcountry setting. The terrain throughout the campground is uneven and rough, typical of Isle Royale's wilderness character. Campers will find basic amenities including food storage lockers (required due to wolf activity on the island), seasonal composting toilets, and non-potable water. No dock is available for boats at this location. Self-contained stoves are required as open fires are not permitted. Due to the campground's remote location and the unpredictable nature of Lake Superior weather, visitors should be prepared for any weather conditions and come fully self-sufficient. The campground operates seasonally with a 3-night maximum stay limit from June 1 through Labor Day. All visitors must obtain a free overnight permit. Pets are not allowed anywhere in Isle Royale National Park. Quiet hours are enforced from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. EDT.
