Huginnin Cove Campground

Huginnin Cove Campground occupies a scenic stretch of Isle Royale's north shore, offering backcountry solitude within a few miles of Windigo. The campground is accessed via the Huginnin Loop trail system or by canoe/kayak, as there is no dock for boats. With only 5 individual tent sites available first-come, first-served, this is a true wilderness camping experience in one of America's least-visited national parks. Facilities are appropriately primitive for the backcountry setting. Seasonal composting toilets and food storage lockers are provided, but all water from the non-potable source must be filtered or chemically treated before drinking. Campfires are not permitted; campers must use self-contained stoves for cooking. Pets are strictly prohibited throughout Isle Royale. The terrain is uneven and rough, with no accessible facilities. The campground operates within Isle Royale's April 16 through October 31 season. A stay limit of 3 consecutive nights applies from June 1 through Labor Day. Camping is free for parties of 6 or fewer, though a free overnight permit is required.

Huginnin Cove Campground is located at Huginnin Cove on the north shore of Isle Royale, accessed via the West and East Huginnin Cove Trails from Windigo. Access is by foot, canoe, or kayak only. No dock is available for boats.
