Beaver Island Campground

Open

Isle Royale National Park is open for the 2026 season (April 16 through October 31). Beaver Island Campground is first-come, first-served with no reservations. A 3-night stay limit is in effect June 1 through Labor Day. No potable water is available; campers must bring their own water supply.

About

Beaver Island Campground occupies a scenic location in the center of Washington Harbor, near the Windigo area on the west end of Isle Royale National Park. This remote boat-in campground features 3 shelters, all with water-facing views, and is accessible only by canoe, kayak, or private boat. The dock depth ranges from 2 to 5 feet under normal water conditions, and boats may remain docked overnight. As a wilderness campground within Isle Royale, facilities are minimal. Composting toilets are available seasonally, but there is no potable water on site. Campers must bring all drinking water and use self-contained stoves for cooking, as campfires are not permitted. All trash must be packed out. Pets are prohibited throughout Isle Royale National Park. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations available. Camping is free for parties of six or fewer, though all visitors must pay the park entrance fee and obtain a permit upon arrival. A 3-night consecutive stay limit applies from June 1 through Labor Day.
