Feldtmann Lake Campground occupies a scenic position on the shoreline of Feldtmann Lake, an inland lake on the remote southwest end of Isle Royale. The campground is accessible only by foot, requiring an approximately 8.5-mile hike from the Windigo trailhead via the Feldtmann Lake Trail. This makes it a popular first-night destination for backpackers tackling the Feldtmann Loop, a roughly 30-mile circuit considered one of the most varied trails on the island. The campground offers 7 tent sites total: 5 individual sites available first-come, first-served and 2 group sites that require advance reservations for parties of 7-10. Facilities include seasonal composting toilets and a non-potable water source (treatment required). There are no fire rings; backpackers must use self-contained stoves only. A stay limit of 2 consecutive nights applies from June 1 through Labor Day. Nearby Rainbow Cove, accessible via a 0.8-mile spur trail, provides a rocky Lake Superior shoreline with sunset views and distant views of the Rock of Ages Lighthouse on clear days. Isle Royale is accessible only by ferry or seaplane from the Michigan or Minnesota mainland.

Feldtmann Lake Campground is located on the shoreline of Feldtmann Lake, off the Feldtmann Lake and Feldtmann Ridge Trails, on the southwest end of Isle Royale National Park. Access is by foot only, approximately 8.5 miles from the Windigo trailhead. Isle Royale is accessible by ferry from Houghton or Copper Harbor, Michigan, or from Grand Portage, Minnesota, or by seaplane.
